Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actor known for her performance as the fierce attorney Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name after she married. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent from childhood. A Maryland high-school competition awarded her the best actress award. In the years following her involvement in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting certificate from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her first role in a major film, won her great admiration. There followed films like "Boogie Nights Spark and Blue Streak. Soul Food, her TV show, was widely praised because of the performances she performed. Also, she appeared in TV series like Second Time Around 'and Empire. Contractor was born from Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria from the time she was seven. She'd been exposed to a lot of travel and cultures from a young age. After attending boarding school during seven years of London Her family then moved to Toronto Canada where she spent the majority of her childhood and into early adulthood. Contractor achieved academic success in Toronto and also trained as a ballerina. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It's a high school that teaches arts in which she didn't just learn about theater, but also dance as well. Contractor began her acting career at 16 after completing a total of 10 years of dancing. She received a full-scholarship grant to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. She earned a master's degree in theatre and also double-majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university and auditioned during an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadain Canada] and was selected for the role. The production she appeared in were praised by Canadian reviewers. Contractor was offered the opportunity to join Stratford's conservatory, where a select eight men and four women are accepted for a 20-week crash course on classical theater which she was eager to take. The role was secured for Contractor in the next series of plays She was also offered Hermia's character for the role of Hermia A Midsummer Night's Dream.
